Product Description
Prevention magazine is the country's most authoritative, trustworthy, and innovative source for practical health, nutrition, and fitness information. Now, its editors bring you a weight-loss plan that's specifically designed to target your number-one trouble spot: BELLY FAT.
For women over 40, belly fat is incredibly stealth and incredibly stubborn. It's also the most deadly, contributing to a higher risk of heart disease, diabetes, and chronic illness than any other type of fat on your body. Finally, science has helped uncover a key dietary weapon in the fight against belly fat. Monounsaturated fatty acids, or MUFAs, help dieters lose more weight--in their bellies specifically--and keep it off longer.
Flat Belly Diet! will lead you step by step, day by day, meal by meal toward a flatter belly...and a longer, healthier life.

2 out of 5 stars don't like some of the recipes.   August 20, 2010
connie michaels (INDIANA, PA, US)
I thought the diet made sense in theory .Tried many of the recipes. Bought a lots of strange foods that I wouldn't have such as black olive tapanade. Followed diet faithfully for a couple of weeks .Gained a pound. My husband lost 10 pounds in those 2 weeks. I think it was too many calories for me.

I did it again! This book is over rated!!!!! The food is to hard to find and the diet is a job.

This is not a diet, It is a way of Life.. It REALLY, REALLY works. I love this book! I bought my sister one. I share the concepts with everyone. Go MUFA's. I HAVE LOST WEIGHT, INCHES, AND FEEL GREAT.

3 out of 5 stars Not too flexible...   July 26, 2010

I am a dieting junky, I tend to try different diets until I found one that actually worked for me (Bethenny Frankel's diet books)! I came across the Flat Belly Diet book through all the publicity that it was getting, so naturally I thought I would give it a go.

This book has very interesting facts that I was unaware of and teaches you the importance of different food items such as MUFAS. It described how they work and what they are which I found helpful, it even gives a list and allows you to pick what ones you want to eat with your meals. On the other hand however you must first go on a 4 day cleanse. I am a very pick eater and DID NOT like some of food it tells you to eat. Most diet books will give you alternatives if you don't eat a certain item, this book gave you none. When cleansing, by the end of the night I had an awful headache and felt plain weak, which is expected during a cleanse but I really didnt loose any weight.

I read alot of people reviews and had to agree with the recipe issue, there are alot of recipes included in the book which is really nice but they are all pretty complex. Alot of the "snacks" consist of some sort of smoothie. I work in an office which makes it hard for me to have 2 smoothies for snacks during the day. When reading some reviews I noticed another reoccuring thing was the "exercise not needed", they do state that but they also say that if you want to speed up your weight loss exercise is suggested and give some examples as well.

Overall, this was a good read. I did get alot of useful information and some quick recipes out of the book. I do still go to the book for recipes because they have SOME good ones. I would not suggest this diet unless you are very disiplined, and like many different foods. I have a husband and 3 kids so it was hard to make dinner for myself from my book and then also something for them. The recipes were a little different and my kids would not eat them. You are also making alot of trips to the grocery store, and alot of what you buy you are not using all the way.
